Neenah health care system names new COO
NEENAH – ThedaCare has named a new chief operating officer ahead of a planned merger with Froedtert Health that’s set to begin in 2024.
The Neenah-based health care system announced Matt Wille, FACHE, MHA, MPPA, will assume the COO role Oct. 30 and Mark Thompson, current COO and chief financial officer of ThedaCare, will transition to serve as chief transformation investment officer in the new structure created by Froedtert Health and ThedaCare’s planned combined organization.
Wille, a news release said, most recently served as president and CEO of Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. He has also held numerous leadership positions at various health systems in Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois.
The release added he will collaborate with ThedaCare’s executive leadership team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems that support the growth and population health objectives of the organization.

Wille has a master’s of public policy and administration from Northwestern University, a master’s of health care administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Iowa. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, serves as a member on Regional Policy Board of the American Hospital Association and serves as the vice chairman of the Legislative Policy Panel of the Michigan Hospital Association.
Froedtert Health and ThedaCare announced Sept. 6 that their respective boards had approved a definitive agreement outlining the terms of the planned combined health system. Following the launch of the combined health system, Froedtert Health President and CEO Cathy Jacobson will initially assume the role of CEO, and ThedaCare President and CEO Imran A. Andrabi, M.D., FAAFM will serve as president. After a six-month transition, Jacobson will retire from the organization and Dr. Andrabi will assume the role of president and CEO of the combined organization.
