Two more cannabis companies proposed dispensaries in Saratoga Springs
SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Saratoga Springs Planning Board will hear more during its meeting Thursday from one of two marijuana companies seeking a special use permit to operate a dispensary in the city.
The city recently approved a temporary special use permit for Ten Cees LLC to open a dispensary at 95 West Avenue. Now, Excelsior Cannabis, LLC is looking to open up a shop at 75 Weibel Ave. and Reverie 73 NY, LLC is seeking to open a store at 1 Kaydeross Avenue West.
Excelsior Cannabis is scheduled to appear before the Planning Board Thursday night. The documents do not clearly state who owns the company.
The dispensary would be 1,250 feet inside of an existing commercial space, according to Planning Board documents provided by Joshua Silver, who is listed as the attorney for the company.
The company plans to use adjacent undeveloped land for additional parking and extend the sidewalk along Weibel Avenue along the southern edge of the border. The company is asking the board to waive site plan review because it isn’t altering the exterior of the building.
The company also said in the documents that it will not be making interior improvements, but will install a security system.
That system will include a perimeter alarm and video surveillance in all of the areas that have cannabis products, as well as surveillance cameras at the entry and exit ways, and the parking lot.
The system will send the company an alert within five minutes if there is a system outage and there will also be an electrical back-up that is able to operate the security system for no less than eight hours if there were to be a blackout, according to documents.
There will be 15 employees, including a manager, two assistant managers, retail sales clerks and security personnel, according to the documents. The company will operate from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
“At peak hours the applicant expects that five employees will be on-site,” Silver states in the document.
Reverie 73 NY LLC is also seeking a special use permit. Planning Board documents do not clearly state who owns the company.
That company is looking to operate a dispensary in the rear portion of 1 Kaydeross Avenue West, the current site of PJs Barbeque and the former A&W Restaurant, according to documents submitted to the Planning Board.
The company currently has locations in Massachusetts and stated in documents it can “draw on their experiences at those locations for anticipating the volume at this site and integrate measures to control the flow and timing of purchases.”
That will be done through both walk-ins and scheduled appointments.
“Product deliveries occur a few times a week and occur in a secure, dedicated portion of the site which is not accessible to the public,” the company states.
The company said that the property is within the specialty mixed-use gateway and therefore, a dispensary would fit well into the area.
“The new building will be designed to be aesthetically pleasing and provide visual continuity with the existing structure,” the company states in the document. “The modifications proposed will be consistent with the comprehensive plan’s goals and the gateway guidelines to improve the physical appearance of the site, while keeping the existing, iconic restaurant structure.”
Documents provided to the Planning Board do not indicate what the hours of operation would be. Reverie is not currently scheduled for the Thursday night Planning Board meeting.
