A doctor of Indian origin was terminated from a hospital in Bahrain due to his tweets expressing support for Israel during the ongoing conflict with the Palestinian group Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Dr. Sunil Rao’s tweets were reported as containing inflammatory remarks, and Bahraini authorities were alerted to them by a user. The hospital management stated that the tweets were offensive to Bahraini society, leading to Dr. Rao’s employment termination. The hospital emphasized that his views were personal and did not align with the hospital’s values. Dr. Rao issued an apology on social media, expressing regret for his insensitivity. As a consequence, the hospital removed his profile from its website. Dr. Rao, according to his Twitter profile, is a specialist in internal medicine with approximately 20 years of experience.
