Interactive gaming/fitness brand Activate opens Birmingham-area location this week

An interactive indoor gaming and fitness brand is opening a Birmingham-area location on Friday.

Activate Games Birmingham will be located at 1425 Montgomery Hwy., Suite 191, in Vestavia Hills.

The company fuses technology and physical activity to create live-action gaming experiences and currently has 18 locations in major cities across the U.S. and Canada, including Dallas, Atlanta, Houston and Gatlinburg.

“We are thrilled to be joining the Birmingham community and offer a new hub for entertainment,” Bryce Anderson, partner at Activate, said. “Our high-tech games test teams’ agility across hundreds of real-life challenges. It’s the perfect spot for a fun night out with family and friends.”

Activate provides high-tech games that test physical and mental agility, allowing participants to choose from hundreds of combinations of games and difficulty levels.

Each game lasts one to three minutes, with a variety of gaming rooms, including Megagrid, Hoops, Grid, Hide, Laser, Portals, and others.

A radio-frequency identification (RFID) wristband tracks each participant’s scores and progress through the visit.
