Division of Cannabis Control Starts Issuing Provisional Licenses | News
In November of last year, Ohioans voted to legalize recreational marijuana by securing a 57 percent affirmative vote on Issue 2. After the passage of Issue 2, it created a situation where marijuana could be used and possessed, but not be bought or sold until facilities could be licensed through the newly created Division of Cannabis Control (DCC). As mandated by Issue 2 on June 7, the DCC opened the applications for medical marijuana dispensaries to convert to become Dual-Use Cannabis License holders.
With the application period opening on June 7, the anticipated award of licenses was expected by Sept. 7. However, the DCC has already started issuing provisional licenses to some of the more than 200 dispensaries, processors, and cultivators who were eligible to apply during the first round of applications.
