Over 600 pounds of medications collected during Prescription Drug Take Back Day
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — October 26 was Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, which is geared at keeping prescription drugs off the street.
People could drop off their unused or un-necessary medication at different places to safely get them out of their home.
“It’s really up to all of us, whether its just protecting the community at large, or it’s a grandparent who wants to make sure when their grandkids come over to their house – that their house is safe and free of anything that could cause harm,” said Januwaa Davis, the Horizon Behavioral Health prevention program manager.

As of early Saturday, they had counted 610 pounds of collected drugs.
In the spring of 2024, they brought in 563 and a half pounds.
If you missed the Drug Take-Back Day, you can dispose of your medications at the Lynchburg Police Department.
