It will directly impact 66% of supplies manufactured exclusively outside the country.

The hospital supplies sector is expected to face significant losses as US President Donald Trump imposes tariffs affecting up to 78% of all 510k-approved hospital supplies manufactured outside the US, according to Medsource Database by GlobalData.

More specifically, the tariffs will directly impact 66% of 510k-approved hospital supplies manufactured exclusively outside the US.

Meanwhile, retaliatory tariffs from foreign countries are expected to lead to losses for US medical device exporters, potentially reducing foreign investment and driving up domestic prices.

“The ongoing trade war presents a clear risk to medical device manufacturers that produce devices primarily abroad, and they may look to mitigate this risk in the future,” Aidan Robertson, Medical Analyst at GlobalData, said.

“However, the immediate losses incurred by tariffs in the short term will be hard to avoid,” Robertson added.
