‘Can’t say I’m happier here’: Madhuri Dixit’s husband Dr Nene opens up on moving to India from USA, says married Madhuri without ‘knowing her past history’ | Bollywood News
Madhuri Dixit’s husband, Dr Shriram Nene, recently made a comment about Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s decision to move to London in order to let their children grow up away from the public eye. This sparked a debate online. Now, an old interview featuring Dr Nene, where he discusses his preference for India over the USA, has gone viral on social media. During the interview, Dr Nene admitted that he has lost the perks of anonymity in India, but at the same time, he expressed deep gratitude for everything the country has offered him and his family.
While speaking to Ranveer Allahbadia on his YouTube channel, Dr Nene was asked if he feels happier in India than in the USA. He responded, “I can’t say happier. It is different. There you got anonymity and independence and a lot of it was self-driven. In India, I have a culture and we have a lot of ties, so it is different.” When asked about being married to one of the biggest names in the Hindi film industry and how that affects their life in India, he responded, “Well, that was the case in America also. Also, I don’t know her like that. She is my wife and partner.”
He continued, “We look after each other. I never knew her past history and she didn’t know mine. We came from different worlds, but at the same time, we came from the same region, Maharashtra, with the same background. Neither of us thought it would happen. It was kismat, and it has been the most amazing thing in my life.”

Talking about maintaining anonymity in the USA, he said, “The main challenge was anonymity. To be able to behave like normal people, and the lucky thing is we both enjoy that, less so in India to a great degree, but we are very grateful for everything and the people. She is so down-to-earth and the way she treats her fans and other people. Same with me. We just try to be good people.”
Recently, Dr Nene invited Ranveer for a conversation on his own YouTube channel. While speaking about Anushka and Virat’s decision to move to London, Dr. Nene shared, “We had a conversation with Anushka one day, and it was very interesting. They were thinking about moving to London because they can’t enjoy their success (here). And we appreciate what they go through, because anything they do attracts attention. We almost become isolated.”
For the unversed, Madhuri Dixit married cardiovascular surgeon Dr Shriram Nene in 1999. She moved to Denver, USA, and embraced family life. In 2011, she and Dr Nene returned to India permanently, and she resumed her career in the Hindi film industry, while Dr Nene started his own YouTube channel.
