we already know the tools to stay safe this holiday season. So you don’t end up here at the hospital this year. Certainly, I would say is one of the extremes. Children’s hospitals slammed with patients. As RSV cases continue to climb nationwide. The emergency rooms in general are very crowded. The wait times are unfortunately quite long. And even intensive care units across the country are being very stretched because of the sheer number of Children who are afflicted by this virus. Every pediatric ICU bed is filled in new Hampshire because of it. That’s not the case in massachusetts. But dr Rick Malley of boston Children’s Hospital says things could get worse as people come together for the holiday season for this time of year. We’re certainly seeing far more cases than we usually would. And RSV isn’t the only respiratory illness people should be concerned about. We are seeing elevated levels of flu in the southern parts of the country and I think that in *** few weeks we can expect those numbers to start rising here in massachusetts. They say many of the practices we’ve gotten used to because of covid also prevent the flu and RsV, they say to stay home if you’re sick frequently wash your hands and disinfect high touch surfaces. We have lots of tools to help keep ourselves safe and keep ourselves healthy. Of course the best way to keep yourself safe is to get vaccinated while there isn’t an S. R. S. V. Vaccine. As of yet. Doctors say right now is the perfect time to get vaccinated against the flu or get your Covid booster ahead of thanksgiving. We’re live tonight in boston WCVB.
