Conversations with Neighbors presents ‘Medical Cannabis: Weeding Out Fact From Fiction’ | Local Announcements

SPENCERTOWN – Spencertown Academy Arts Center Conversations with Neighbors presents “Medical Cannabis: Weeding Out Fact From Fiction” at 2 p.m. June 9 at the Academy, 7902 Route 203, Spencertown. Dr. Kenneth R. Weinberg, founder and chief medical officer of Cannabis Doctors of New York, will discuss the fascinating history of cannabis, his personal perspective about the plant, and the results he’s seen for his patients and their families. While admission is free, advance reservations are requested via www.spencertownacademy.org.

The Conversations with Neighbors Committee is co-chaired by Lisa Bouchard Hoe and Cindy Atkins. “Dr. Weinberg has followed his own path, and heart, through his career, looking for solutions for his patients that embrace body and soul,” says Bouchard Hoe. “With his study and use of cannabis as an alternative for Alzheimers and other maladies of aging, he is a ground breaker.”

Dr. Weinberg is a three-time Board-certified emergency medicine and medical marijuana physician. After finishing a residency in internal medicine, he created a fellowship in psychoneuroimmunology at the Manhattan VA, then trained in emergency medicine at Bellevue and NYU Langone Hospital. He has practiced emergency and urgent care medicine for over three decades and treated hundreds of patients with diseases across a spectrum of conditions. When New York State’s Compassionate Care Act was passed in 2016, he founded Cannabis Doctors of New York. The practice, which is based in New York City and Upstate New York, certifies patients, educates the public, and advocates for the many benefits of medical marijuana.

Spencertown Academy Arts Center Conversations with Neighbors is an occasional series designed to spark neighbor-to-neighbor conversations and celebrate the richness and diversity of the Columbia County community.
