Dr. Alessandra Colon of Palm Beach Gardens is finding fame on a national level.

Producers for TLC Network discovered Colon via TikTok. On that platform, the chiropractic physician is known as Miss Chiropractic, and her practice, Papa Chiropractic in Palm Beach Gardens, has more than 4 million likes and almost 322,000 followers on TikTok.

Colon says she’s the first chiropractor in the nation to pioneer a chiropractor series. Called “Crack Addicts,” the reality TV docuseries spotlights alternative medicine, with the theme “healing patients one spine at a time.”

Below are things to know about “Crack Addicts” and its star.

What is the reality TV show ‘Crack Addicts’ about?

“Crack Addicts” made its debut May 24, 2023, on TLC Network.

“With groundbreaking chiropractic methods, Dr. Alessandra Colón and her one-of-a-kind staff tackle the most extreme and debilitating physical conditions. Through every snap, crack and pop, she provides relief when no one else can,” the “Crack Addicts” bio page on TLC’s site states.

The episodes are available to stream on TLC Go.

How did Papa Chiropractic and Dr. Alessandra Colón end up on TLC Network for ‘Crack Addicts?’

Colón told the Palm Beach Post that producers from TLC Network (The Learning Channel) contacted her via email after watching her TikTok videos. “I kind of said, well, yeah right. I deleted the email, put it in the trash can,” Colón said. When producers reached out again via email, she realized it wasn’t spam.

What medical cases do they show on ‘Crack Addicts’ on TLC?

Papa Chiropractic and Colón tackle topics from bloating to incontinence on TikTok, with some of their most viral videos giving tips on pregnancy bloat, hangover cures and farting.

Their openness transfers to the small screen, too.

“Do people fart in my face?” Colón said, laughing, explaining one particular person’s fart went viral. “All the time, there is a direct correlation to the low back and the sacrum.” Patients visit the practice for help with bed-wetting, farting and constipation. “I am not a shy person,” Colón told the Palm Beach Post. “If we have issues, we’re going to address them,” she said.

What is chiropractic?

According to the National Institutes of Health, “chiropractic is a licensed health care profession that emphasizes the body’s ability to heal itself. Treatment typically involves manual therapy, often including spinal manipulation. Other forms of treatment, such as exercise and nutritional counseling, may be used as well.”

Colón was a cancer patient. She said she had residual complications from radiation and chemotherapy. Eventually, she saw a chiropractor, whose alternative medicine changed her life. So she became one, too.

Is ‘Crack Addicts’ a scripted reality TV show?

Colón said the production team for “Crack Addicts” got to learn more about chiropractic care. When they filmed with her, “it was truly healing people who had never seen chiropractors before, everything was authentic, nothing was scripted whatsoever.”

Film crews watched Colón treat pediatric patients − and not just for the spine. “We treat constipations, ear infections and headaches and all these other things you wouldn’t even think about,” she said, adding, “it was cool to dive into the plethora of things chiropractors do.”
