Kelty man caught growing cannabis at home has been fined

Last October, 37-year-old Ryan Thomson was ordered to do unpaid work but breached his community payback order.

As a result, Thomson, of Glengask Grove, was back in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He previously admitted that on 8th October 2021 at his home, he produced a controlled drug, cannabis.

He also admitted he was in possession of herbal cannabis.

A search warrant was executed at his home and police found five mature plants and 12 seedlings.

He claimed the plants were for personal use.

He was sentenced to a community payback order with 100 hours of unpaid work.

The court was told Thomson, who has been unemployed for five years, had not completed the work because of mental health issues and the order was revoked.

In its place, Sheriff Garry Sutherland fined Thomson £420.
