Las Cruces police, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration and other law enforcement agencies, will be hosting a National Prescription Drug Take-back Day on Saturday at several locations within the community. The prescription drug take-back event is open to anyone who wishes to properly dispose of prescription drugs. The service is free, anonymous, and no questions will be asked.Residents are encouraged to drop off expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs in pills, tablets, patches, and other solid forms during the event. Liquids such as cough syrups are asked to remain tightly sealed in their original containers. Syringes, sharps and other illicit substances will not be accepted. The take-back initiative is meant to address vital public safety and health issues. Traditional methods of disposing of unused medications, such as disposing of them in the trash or flushing them down a toilet, can pose safety and health hazards.Las Cruces and area donation sites include: Sam’s Club, 2711 N.
