Massachusetts’ top cannabis regulator, Shannon O’Brien, suspended

Cannabis Control Commission Chairwoman Shannon O’Brien was suspended from her position by Massachusetts Treasurer Deborah Goldberg.The move comes just a year after she was chosen for that position.The Cannabis Control Commission is overseen by Goldberg, but her office has said nothing about why O’Brien was suspended.Since the commission was created in 2018, three people have held the Chair.O’Brien released a statement saying, “A toxic internal environment has prevented the Commission from meeting its central mission, and I am hopeful needed change can be mandated by the Legislature.”
