Medicare No. 2 Says Drug Price Setting Can Help Pharma Business

Medicare’s upcoming drug price negotiations and other reforms will drive business to the pharmaceutical industry by bringing it patients who couldn’t previously afford their medications, the agency’s chief drug price negotiator said.

Meena Seshamani, Medicare director and deputy administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, noting industry concerns that price setting under the Inflation Reduction Act will stifle biomedical innovation, said the conversation about innovation needs to include the demand side.
