Arlington Heights restaurant expands with private event spaces

Toscana, at 1859 W. Central Road on the west side of Arlington Heights, recently completed its latest expansion and renovation: a backroom with bar that can host private parties of up to 60 or serve as overflow dining space. It comes a year after owner Murat Murati opened the 4,000-square-foot International Banquet hall next door for small- and medium-sized parties of up to 150.

Buffalo Grove commits $11 million to Rohrman property redevelopment

Buffalo Grove is committing $11 million in tax increment financing funds to the redevelopment of the former Rohrman auto dealership property on Dundee Road. It is part of a redevelopment agreement with the Shorewood Development Group, which plans to turn the long-vacant property into Bison Crossing, a mixed-use project that will include a 50,000-square-foot Tesla sales and service center and a 224-unit apartment building.

Carol Stream to get two new cannabis dispensaries

Carol Stream leaders will allow two new cannabis dispensaries to open in the village. The village board has approved special-use permits for Altius at 506 S. Schmale Road and CannaCloud at 27W261 North Ave.

3 restaurants among new tenants coming to The Arboretum of South Barrington

A trio of new restaurants are on tap to open this year at The Arboretum of South Barrington. They include Italian restaurant Giostra by Fabio Viviani in the space formerly occupied by Incontro A Tavola, expected to open this spring. Also, this summer will bring The Greggory Hearth & Tavern and Tangled Roots Brewing Company to the center.

Olympian and TFI bring together physical therapy and athletic training

Olympic speed skater Brian Hansen jointly owns a health and wellness center — TFI Physical Therapy & Sports Performance in Vernon Hills — that offers a multidisciplinary approach of physical therapy, personal training, private and group Pilates, and a recovery room featuring ice baths, sauna and compression boots. The center is at 701 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Vernon Hills proceeds with plans for new short game facilities at municipal golf course

Big improvements are in the works at Vernon Hills’ nine-hole municipal course. A new short game practice area is planned to be built this summer, south and east of Route 45 and Evergreen Drive, across the street from the village hall. The project has a preliminary budget of about $379,000. It calls for a 16,000-square-foot putting green and collared chipping area based on the facility at Deerpath Golf Course in Lake Forest.
