Sapphire cannabis clinic records highest demand from over-45s | Scotland

Middle-aged people are the largest group being prescribed medical cannabis by Scotland’s first private licensed clinic.

About 1,600 people are receiving the drug on prescription to treat conditions including epilepsy, anxiety and chronic pain. People aged over 45 are the dominant category to apply for medication. Sapphire Medical Clinic in Stirling has offered consultations since opening in March. It offers cannabis flowers, oils and capsules to patients.

Medical cannabis was legalised in the UK in 2018 but its availability is strictly limited, making products difficult to access on the NHS.
