Spring Valley Blintzes is recalling 1200 boxes of its potato blintzes that were mistakenly packed with cheese blintzes instead, according to the Orthodox Union, which kosher-certifies the plant, and the FDA.
The error was discovered after being reported by a customer Wednesday.
The recalled blintzes were in 13 oz. cartons, containing six individual blintzes. The affected lot is 1513MMR7831RE (which can be found on the top of the carton) and the UPC is 813801 00321 (which can be found) on back of carton. They were shipped to distributors and retailers in New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Florida, between June 1 and July 5.
Rabbi Moshe Elefant, executive rabbinic coordinator of the OU, told Hamodia, “This is a plant with hashgacha temidis (constant supervision). We have been working with the company since this human error was discovered, and we have taken steps to ensure this hopefully will not happen again.”
Rabbi Elefant says consumers should return the product to the store for a refund.
