Three cannabis stores re-open under Budr brand as The Botanist exits CT
Budr Cannabis is re-opening three dispensary locations in Danbury, Vernon and Montville under the Budr name. These locations were formerly The Botanist and were acquired by Budr in June 2025.
The expansion brings Budr’s footprint to eight dispensary locations — seven in Connecticut and one in New York.
The acquisition of the sites was funded by Budr’s strategic partner Poseidon Investment Management.
The sale marked The Botanist’s exit from the Connecticut retail market. The brand is owned by New York-based multistate operator Acreage Holdings. It continues to own stores in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Ohio.
The three stores are all hybrid locations, serving both medical patients and adult-use customers, along with one of Budr’s existing stores in Stratford.
The Danbury store at Mill Plain Road is the company’s second in that city. alongside its Federal Road location.
Meanwhile, Budr has also indicated it’s interested in getting into growing cannabis in Connecticut via a microcultivator license. The company has said it’s currently in search of a suitable location to establish a cultivation facility.
